Banana Oatmeal Muffins!

Good morning and happy Tuesday! I wanted to share a muffin recipe with you all. Its not your typical muffin recipe (there's no flour) but they are yummy and pretty healthy:)

Banana Oatmeal Muffins
  • 2 1/2 cups of oats (old fashioned kind not the quick ones)
  • 1 single serve cup or 1 cup of plain low fat greek yogurt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 bananas
*Only makes 12 muffins*
Preheat oven to 400º. Line 12 muffin tins with paper baking cups or spray with non-stick cooking spray. Place all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. (I add the oats first & blend them then add everything else & mix with a spoon and then blend) You may need to do that a couple times. Pour batter in muffin tins there's just enough for 12 muffins. Bake for 20-25 min until toothpick comes out clean.

Enjoy your yummy muffins! If you try it out let me know what ya think:)

Weekend Recap & Super Glue Mess!

The weekends over and it's back to school and our regular routine.  We had beautiful weather Saturday and Sunday wasn't to bad either. Little man's baptism went great and so did his party. It was so nice to spend the day with family and friends. Saturday was lets just say a little hectic. We had a lot of stuff to do before Sunday and towards the end of the night I realized I forgot to get the stuff to make pasta salad & fruit for a fruit tray. I'm yelling to the boys to get there shoes back on so we can run to the store to pick that stuff up really quick and my middle son comes in the room with this look of I'm really worried and I think I'm in trouble. He's holding his hands and don't ask me why but mommy sense just kicked in and I give him the look and blurt out YOU WERE MESSING WITH THE SUPER GLUE WEREN'T YOU!! He gets all up set and shows me his hands (which by the way are covered with glue) Don't ask me why he thought it would be a good idea to play with super glue and get it all his hands and the carpet. So I of course kinda freak out a little and Google how to get super glue off your skin. I got about half of it off of him and some how managed to get some on myself. I guess I can't get mad though I left it on the craft table from when I was making stuff for the party got distracted and didn't put it away but then again he does know he shouldn't be touching it. Then the baby was up all threw the night last night fussy and crying and me and all boys woke up sick this morning:( So no school for my older two and my little guys just miserable and really grumpy. I hope they all are feeling better by tomorrow. How was your weekend?

DIY Flower Ball Centerpieces!

Woo hoo it's the weekend! If you've read my other post you know my little guys baptism is this Sunday and I''ve been busy getting everything prepared and ready. Here's another project I did for decorations. There flower balls and there really easy to make.

Flower Balls
  • Flowers of your choice (I used 4-5 bunches)
  • Foam ball
  • Candle stick holder
  • Glue gun
You glue the foam ball onto the candle stick holder. Then pop the tops of the flowers off there stems. Arrange the flowers onto the ball to your liking then go back around and glue them so that they stay put. That's it! It's really easy and pretty quick. I hope you like them:)

I got the flowers and candle stick holders at the Dollar Tree (every things $1) and the foam balls at walmart they were $2-$3. Hope you all are having a great weekend:)

Table Decor for Baptism!

I got another one of the projects for my little guys baptism done. I really like how they turned out. They were super quick and easy to do to:) I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but I went to Michael's (a local craft store) and was looking around and spotted these small white frames in the $2 bin and thought I could totally use these to make something cute! I also found the paper flowers in the $2 bins. The gem A I found at Hobby Lobby (local craft store) they are $2 each reg but they were 40% off so that was nice. The blue paper I already had at home. So they were pretty affordable and I really like how they turned out. Let me know what you think.

What's for dinner Wednesday!!

Tonight I made one of my oldest sons favorites Chinese. I found this recipe on the Internet and this is the 3rd time I've made it. It tastes really yummy but its not a quickie dinner. Its not hard or complicated though. I would definitely give it a try if you like Chinese food:)

Baked Sweet & Sour Chicken

  • 3-4 chicken breasts (I used a pkg of chicken tenders)
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
Sweet & Sour Sauce

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 tbs ketchup
  • 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1tbs light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
Preheat oven to 325º cut chicken into small pieces. Season with salt & pepper to taste. Dip chicken into cornstarch to coat then dip into eggs. Heat your 1/4 cup of oil in a large skillet and cook your chicken until browned but not cooked through. Put chicken in a 9×13 greased or lined with foil for easy clean up baking dish. Mix all of the sweet & sour sauce ingredients with a whisk and pour evenly over chicken.  Bake for 1hr you will need to turn the chicken every 15 min.

Fried Rice

  • 4 cups cooked white rice (day old is best but I just make it first & stick it in the fridge while I'm doing the chicken)
  • 3 tbs sesame oil
  • 1 cup frozen peas & carrots (thawed)
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 eggs slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
On med heat heat the oil in a large skillet or wok. Add peas/carrots/onions/garlic stir fry until tender. Lower heat to med/low and push the mixture off to one side then pour your eggs on the other side of the skillet & stir fry until scrambled. Add rice and soy sauce and blend together well. Heat up until thoroughly heated.

Enjoy the yumminess! If you try it out let me know what you think:) I think I'm gonna try and do What's for dinner Wednesday regularly. Let me know if you guys like them or not.

Baptism Party Favors!

I'dthought I would share with you the party favors I'm doing for my little guys baptism this weekend. I total procrastinated and wanted to do something that was cute, quick and affordable. So I headed out to Hobby Lobby (its a craft store) and found some votive candles and thought that would be cute with a little charm or something on it and after wandering threw the store (it sucks you in and before you know it you've wasted a nice chunk of your day in there) I found some cute little glittery crosses that I thought would look nice. So I used my hot glue gun...(oh how I love you) to glue those suckers on and I'll probably be putting them in a organza bag with a little tag on them. The candles cane in a box of 12 for $5.99 & the crosses came in a pkg of 8 for $1.99. I found some organza bags @ dollar tree (every things a dollar) in pkgs of 8 I believe. So not to bad.

Smoothie:)

We make smoothies regularly in our house there great for breakfast or a snack. It's a easy way to get more fruit/veggies in. We have lots of different ones we like but this one is one of my boys favorite.

  • 1 banana
  • Frozen strawberries
  • Frozen mango
  • Frozen/Fresh pineapple
  • 1 plain greek yogurt
  • Milk (any kind is fine)
  • (Optional) 1 spoonful of coconut oil
I put the yogurt and banana in the blender first and add a little bit of milk then blend together. If I'm making it for me and the boys I fill the blender to the top with the pineapple, strawberries and mango then blend together (if its to thick and won't blend then just add a little more milk). Once its nice and blended I take a spoonful of coconut oil and melt it in the microwave about 10 seconds till melted. While the blender is still going you'll slowly add the coconut oil and let it mix in for a couple seconds. If you just dump the oil in it will turn back into a solid form and you'll have oil clumps... GROSS! Enjoy your yummy smoothie:)

Busy weekend & Crazy weather!

It seems like the weekends just fly by. The weather around here has been crazy I don't think it can make up its mind whether it wants spring to come or not. Last week was constant down pours and flooding (including our basement) then the temp dropped down into the 30 and had snow flurries/hail then Saturday and Sunday it went back up into the 50. I'm just hoping that this weekend is nice for my little guys baptism. We had a lot of errands to run this weekend and stuff to get for the party next weekend. We've been so busy and had so much stuff going on i procrastinated till last minute to do everything. I'm sure ill be regretting that this week! Daddy and my two older boys went and got haircuts on Saturday. We got all there outfits for the baptism to....you would think boys are easy to shop for but it was hard finding them the right size and similar color shirts not to mention all the whining/complaining about going clothes shopping. I still need to go shopping for something for myself and I'm not really looking forward to that....that's a hole nuther post though:) Hope you all had a great weekend!

DIY Coffee Grounds and Honey face mask/exfoliate!!

Happy Friday! I have another diy recipe to share with you. It's a coffee grounds/honey/oil face mask/exfoliate. It's affordable all natural and will leave your skin feeling and looking great. I have acne prone/sensitive skin and with my hormones going crazy right know this really helps.

DIY Coffee Grounds and Honey face mask/exfoliate

  • 3 tbls  used coffee grounds
  • 1 tbls  coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp  Raw honey

1. Wash your face and pat dry

2.Mix together the coffee grounds, honey and oil (if your using coconut oil its a solid form until it gets warmed up then it looks like oil so you may need to heat it up for 10 seconds).

3. Apply to face and massage gently into circular motions. Let it sit on your face for 10-20 minutes (you might want to put a towel around you in case anything drips).

4. Rinse off (if you like you can take a very tiny amount of coconut oil to massage in as a moisturize)

Enjoy your soft dewy glowing radiant skin! I would only use this 1-2 a week at most over exfoliating can be bad for your skin. I'll list below what the ingredients do in case your wondering:)

Coffee grounds are rich in antioxidants that help prevent aging and repair skin damage. Removing toxins and reducing puffiness. Natural ingredients that plump skin, anti irritant.  Great antioxidant that prevents damage from free radicals. Removes dead skin cells.

Honey is very hydrating and plumps up skin and smooths out the appearance of wrinkles. It's a great anti bacterial and anti inflammatory. It traps in moisture and holds it there and tones complexion.

coconut oil has so many benefits and a ton of uses I'll probably just do a separate post on that.

If you try it out let me know what you think. Oh and make sure to use raw honey and if you use coconut oil get the unrefined organic kind:) and if you drink coffee you can use those coffee grounds for your mask. I'm not a coffee drinker so I got a container of coffee for $2, I use trader Joe's coconut oil its about $7 at my local store and a large mason jar of local honey that was $15. You should be able to find all these items at your local grocery store or walmart.

ADHD or something else?!? UPDATE #1

Today was the first meeting at my sons school to go over the results of his Comprehensive Neurocognitive Assessments Evaluations Summary. It was a pretty long meeting a little over 2 hrs with a ton of information (it was a lot to take in and a little overwhelming plus I had my little guy there with me). It was me, special education coordinator, principal, social worker, speech & language, SE teacher, reg homeroom teacher and the neuropsychologist. The Neuropsychologist was going over his results and diagnoses. He went over quite a lot but to sum it up he said he currently presents with the rarest form of Learning Disability referred to as Mixed Dyslexia/Dysgraphia. He also said he is extremely surprised that he has held on this long and not had any behavior problems or just completely given up. He also said while he does show some characteristics of ADD/ADHD is not enough to show concern and he DOES NOT recommend any medication what so ever for it (he doesn't think my son needs it and would end up making him worse) You don't know how glad i was to hear that since it seemed like everyone was telling me he should be put on it so he would do better. I have a ton of thoughts floating threw my head right know. I'm glad to finally have some answers and insight but also very overwhelmed. I've been crying a bit (even though it may seem silly) but as a mother (parent) you want the best for your child. You want them to be happy, healthy, loving, caring people. You hope that they don't have to deal with any major issue ext. Please don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's the end of the world or the worst thing that could ever happen. But it does break my heart to know the struggles he's had and will continue to have and people can be very cruel and mean. Hes already dealt/dealing with it and as he gets older I know it can get worse. He's very aware that he struggles more than others and doesn't have much confidence. I know he's an amazing, awesome, smart, funny, kind, caring, extremely helpful, loving, creative, imaginative, sweet as hell boy. I just don't ever want him to not know that or be made to feel he's not or as the neuropsychologist said have increasing patterns of Learned Helplessness. Sorry I'm just rambling on know but i needed to vent a little I guess. If you have any experience with this please let me know any advice you may have. Thanks for listening to my rambles. If your interested he shared a youtube link with me on a demonstration of the impact of Learned Helplessness on student behavior http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFmFOmprTtO

What's for dinner Wednesday!

Woohoo 2 posts in one day! I'm on a roll:) Today was a crazy busy day as usual and I didn't take anything out for dinner or even think about it till last second. I had 1/2 a package of ground beef left over from Monday's dinner sitting in the fridge that was gonna end up going bad and tossed in the trash. So I checked to see what we had that I could make a quick easy dinner. I ended up making one of my sons favourites. Gotta love quick easy no fuss dinners!

Coffee Filter Butterfly Craft!

I wanted to share a cute craft that I did with the boy's. They are easy to make and turned out really cute! You can put a magnet on the back and put them on the fridge or add a string and hang them from the ceiling.

Butterfly Craft

  • Coffee filter
  • pipe cleaners
  • small googly eyes
  • markers
  • string/magnets
  • small spray bottle
  • glue (I used a glue gun)
  • pom poms

1. Color or draw what ever design you like on a coffee filter.

2. When your done coloring the coffee filter spritz it a little with water. (the colors with start to bleed and look like tie dye) let it dry completely it shouldn't take long.

3. Take a pipe cleaner a wrap it around the middle (not to tight though) making sure the ends are at the top twist together once and the ends sticking out will be the antennas. Curl the tops of them a little bit.

4. Take 3 pom poms and glue them to the pipe cleaner for the body.

5. Glue on the eyes

6. Add either a magnet or string depending on where you would like to display them.

Enjoy your cheerful cute butterflies!

MOM he's annoying me again!

All I seem to hear lately is " MOM BROTHERS BEING ANNOYING" ....."STOP IT STUPID"...." HE STARTED IT...NO I DIDN'T HE DID!" and many other lovely phrases. Of course it's usually when I'm nursing the baby, changing his diaper, cooking dinner ext. They just know when I'm doing something that I can't just walk away from to go referee. So it just ends up with me yelling at them to knock it off and stop yelling and messing with each other. Then I stop and have a light bulb moment (um hello ding dong you just yelled at them to quite yelling at each other?!??) that makes a whole lotta sense! I should just get a dam whistle and play referee to them:) The joys of motherhood, you gotta love the little monsters though they make every day exciting! ♥

How I found out I had a Tumor, Crohns Disease and a surprise pregnancy!?!

After I had my second son who is 7yr old know I breastfed him so I didn't end up getting my period back till right around when he turned 1yr. After that it was very irregular. I noticed a significant change when he was around 4yrs old. It was getting heavier and threw out the next 2yrs it got crazy. It almost seemed like I was having a period more often then not and really bad stomach pains. I went to the doctors a few times to talk to them about it and I was always told the same thing. You just need to start on birth control and you'll be fine there's nothing wrong. I still wasn't buying it.....it just didn't seem right. It continued to get extremely bad to the point it was affecting my daily life. I would be in constant pain to the point I would be on the floor in tears (I had two little ones I needed to take care of and it was really hard) I would suck it up most of the time but I had quite a few embarrassing moments. I would go grocery shopping and make sure before I left I changed into a fresh super heavy tampon along with a pad for extra protection just to be safe. We'll I ended up leaking anyway. There was another time I took my boys to the zoo, we went with a friend of my sons and her mom. As soon as we got there I made sure to change right away and not even 1hr later I feel like I'm leaking (I think to my self oh shit!) I run to the bathroom to check and sure enough it got threw to my pants a little (talk about embarrassing!!!) I ended up having to ask my sons friends mom if she could go to the gift shop next door and get me a shirt to tie around my waist (what a way to start of a new friendship). She was really sweet about it and I decided to go on with our day since it was a 1 1/2 drive with 3 young kids who were so excited. I made it threw ok and put a bag under my booty on the ride home by the time we got there there was so much blood it looked like a slaughter house. Any way one day I just could take the pain and my mom came over to take me to the er while the boys stayed home with dad. That ended up being a fun experience with a rude nurse (I was telling he about my symptoms and she tells me oh its probably a std). I get some tests done and they come back and tell me I'm sorry but you have a small mass by your left ovary and crohns disease. I'm kinda freaking out I didn't know what the hell crohns disease was and what is this mass. I then had to get referrals to two different doctors. One for the mass which they thought was just a small cyst and one for the crohns. I ended up having to go to a ton of doc apts with in the next two months. I ended up being scheduled for outpatient surgery in the being of July right before the 4th to have what they thought was a small cyst removed. Come to find out its a softball sized tumor that completely ingulped my ovary. They ended up removing the tumor/ovary and tube. The doctor told me he was sorry but he wasn't expecting to see that and it looked abnormally and was hard so he had to remove my ovary and tube along with it and send it out for testing. I was worried the hole time that it could be cancer. It ended up being a rare benign tumor. A few weeks after I  had 7 colonoscopies (those were really fun as well) I ended up have to have so many because they weren't working, I wasn't cleaned out enough for them. Which I don't know how I wasn't the last couple were terrible cause I kept going the next day after each one didn't work and you can eat anything and have to keep drinking this nasty drink that cleans you out so I was just exhausted. When one finally worked and I was in the recovery room the told me that it was my appendix was full of puss and I needed emergency surgery. They checked me out wheeled me to er room and I had to check back in but when the doc came he told me I didn't need emergency surgery and gave me a referral to a specialists to make an apt. The specialists scheduled surgery for me towards the end of August right when my oldest was gonna start 1st grade and my youngest was gonna start kindergarten. I was able to push it back so I could be there for them that first week of school. The day of the surgery I was supposed to be an outpatient surgery but again the doc got a surprise. It wasn't my appendix it was my intestines leaking into my appendix (because of the Crohns disease) and they ended up removing 10-12 inches of my small intestine and the flap thing at the end (do you like my technical name that I came up with cause I don't remember what it's called) and my appendix. I ended up being admitted and was there for 11 days. It sucked I had never been away from my babys, it was extremely painful I had just had surgery the month before and had to be cut open again. Then I got the biggest surprise of all the first week in September I found out I was pregnant!  I was scared/excited/worried I was told because I only had one ovary and tube and crohns that it would be almost impossible for me to have another baby if I decided to in the future. We weren't trying but he was the greatest surprise! He came out healthy and perfect and is know 10 months old and I couldn't even imagine life without him♥

DIY Coconut Oil & Honey Hair Mask

I have curly hair and it tends to get dried out easily. I've been on a diy/natural kinda kick lately and thought I'd share one of the hair masks I really enjoy.

DIY Coconut Oil & Honey Hair Mask

  • 1 tbls of coconut oil (organic virgin unrefined is best)
  • 1/2 - 1 tbls of honey
  • shower cap/plastic bag/saran wrap
Take 1 tbls of coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl and heat it up for 10-25 seconds till its melted.  Add in 1/2 - 1 tbls of honey (I usually use 1) and heat up for about 15 seconds then whisk together. Apply it to your hair starting at the ends if you do put in in your roots just use a little bit and massage in as best as you can. Be gentle when applying because the honey does make it really sticky just kinda rub and scrunch. Don't worry it will come out fine! When your done applying it threw your hair your gonna want to put on a shower cap or saran wrap or plastic bag what ever you have will work. I like to take my blow dryer and put it on warm and just put it over your head for a couple minutes so the oil gets heated up in your hair (this is optional you don't have to but I feel like it works better if you do). Your going to want to leave it on for 30-40 minutes. You could leave it on longer if you like I've gotten busy doing things around the house and taking care of the baby and forgot about it. Then you'll wash your hair out (you may need to shampoo twice if it still seems oily). Enjoy your soft, shiny and moisturized hair! let me know what you think if you try this out. I'm planning on posting more diy recipes, let me know if you like them or not.

Just as a side note I use Trader Joe's coconut oil its about $7 a jar at my local store and I get my honey from a local bee place its about $15 for a large mason jar. You can use what ever you like or have. Most stores sell coconut oil you can find it by the baking isle. I know my local walmart sells some.

First performance ever!!!

Tonight my 2nd boy had his 1st grade music performance!  It was his first one ever and he a special part in it were he got to go up to the microphone and speak. He's been so excited for weeks and practicing all the time. He's been constantly singing the songs it's really cute. He did a great job and didn't seem nervous at all. I'm so glade he has such an out going personality. I was really shy and quiet when I was little and wished I could have been more like that. I know girls get flowers when they have a performance but wasn't sure what do you give a boy. So I just made him a little treat bag with one of his favorite candy's he doesn't get very often put a ribbon in his favorite color on it and a great job tag. He absolutely loved it and I think it made him feel really special.

Axe body spray for 8 and 9yr olds?!?!?

My oldest son is 9yrs old and in the 3rd grade. He came home from school the other day ago ask me when could he start wearing axe body spray. I gave him one of those are you serious kinda looks (I'm thinking to my self why would 8 and 9yr olds need axe). Then he starts going on about how there's a lot of boys in his grade that wear it and bring it to school to spray them self's threw out the day. I'm thinking he's exaggerating just a little bit but then I went to pick the boys up from school the next day and as I walk in the office to sign them out I get a overwhelming sent in my face ( and I'm not exaggerating....I look over and there's a boy sitting down spraying the crap out if him self he seriously must have used half the frigging can). Then my oldest says see mom I told you! I personally don't think that 8 and 9yr olds need to be wearing body spray and I won't be getting my son any anytime soon they grow up to fast as it is. Let me know what your thoughts are on it.

10 months old already!

I can't believe my little guys already 10 months old! The time is just flying by way to fast, it's crazy. He amazes me every day, he's got such a little personality. I love his smile it the sweetest thing (his little teeth are so cute to). He makes the cutest/silliest face when he crinkles his nose and puckers his lips. He's still not crawling yet but still manages to get from one side of the room to the other. He's getting better at sitting up but still not completely balanced (he still tops over/plops) I'm still ebf him on demand day and night (so I'm still luck to have tolerable smelling poo still) He has his 4 top teeth and 2 bottom ones but the 3rd bottom one just pop threw. I'm so blessed to have him in my life. He's just brought us so much joy♥

Child Abuse Awarness month.....my personal experience

April is Child Abuse Awareness month. I debated whether or not i should post this and finally got up the guts to. so I thought I would share my personal experience with it. I know this can be a touchy subject but please be respectful (no nasty or rude comments). I was abused physically and sexually by my moms boyfriend (to me he's all I ever new as a dad, I never knew my biological dad he left my mom when I was born). I was abused from the age of 3-16 or at least I think. That's the first memory I have of it. He was an alcoholic/drug abuser and had a temper. A lot of the time it was like walking on egg shells expecally when he was messed up (which was most of the time) he would go off at the smallest things. During part of my childhood my mom worked at nights and a lot of the abuse during that time frame would happen almost ever night. I remember one time me and my aunt (she's only 3yrs old then me) woke up and went into the living room to watch cartoons. We were living with his parents at the time and his dad (my "grandpa") had a magazine holder on the side of his recliner and there cat was sitting on it a broke one of the little peg legs and he (my "dad") woke up pissed and asked who broke it. We told him the cat and he thought we were lying so he punched me in the head. There was another incident.......I'm not gonna go into detail but he was doped up and had one of his guns messing around with it tells me I better not say anything to anyone it'd just between me and him or I wouldn't like what happened to my mom and other close family members. Like said this crap went on till I was 16yr old and couldn't take it any more. I was so depressed and miserable I finally confided in my aunt (the one who's 3yrs older then me). She ended telling my mom and at the time I was at my boyfriends(who I'm still with today) houses and asked me if it was true. She told me she wanted to talk to me in person. Apparently she confronted him about it and he denied the whole thing saying that me and my bf made it up to try and get rid of him. I was really upset she still had him at the house and I didn't end up going home till a couple days later when my mom was at work. When we walked in the house he was there standing at the top of the stairs. My heart was racing so fast I didn't know what to expect. He starts asking me why I'm making up lies I know it never happened,  what the fuck was wrong with me. Needless to say the cops were called he ended up taking off out of state to where his parents lived. An investigation was opened and it took 2yrs before he was brought to court and sentenced. The timing was terrible I had just given birth to my first son and had to go to court and possibly take the stand. Thank god I didn't end up having to but it was a nightmare some of his family was sitting on the side next to me giving evil ass glares the entire time and he (my "dad") kept turning around giving me evil stares as well the judge had to intervene and tell him to stop. He ended up serving a couple years in prison. I had to get a restraining order put in place so he couldn't contact me. Take from this what you will but please  make sure you talk to your kids openly and they feel safe and completely to talk to you about anything. My purpose for sharing my story is to help bring awareness to something I feel shouldn't even exist and possibly help someone. Please feel free to comment or share as long as its respectful and not rude. Thank you.

Just one of those days!

Do you ever have just one of those days. It started the night before....I put my older two boys to be and went to get my little guy settled down and ready for bed. Not even 10 minutes later my oldest comes walking into my room and announces "I just can't fall asleep" the baby gets startled. He was nursing and falling asleep,  I tell my oldest to go lay back down and give himself a chance to fall asleep. From that point on my little one was up every 1 1/2 - 2 hr either nursing and/or fussy from teething.  There was also a really bad thunders storm most of the night and my 7yr old got woken up and was scared so he ended up camping out in my room. Need less to say it was a fun night. Every one was up by 6:00 and our mornings are usually hectic but my oldest was kinda outta it this morning.  He needed a lot of redirection to get ready. After all the craziness to get ready for school it was time to drop the boys off at school as I was getting the baby in his car seat I hear a loud squirt (doesn't that always seem to happen when your running late and have to be some where at a certain time) so I go to change his diaper and as I'm putting a clean one under his bum he pees all over. So then I have to do a quick clean up and change with 10 minutes left to get the boys to school on time (we made it just in case your wondering). The baby is crying and having  fit on the ride to and from the school. We get home I try and comfort him, he's tired and hungry so I nurse him and he takes a nap on me. Skip to a couple hrs later and its already lunch time by the time he wakes up. We do a diaper change, lunch for mommy, load of laundry, dishes from lunch/breakfast, get part of my dinner prepping done, read stories/kinda play (he's really fussy), nurse some more and then he takes a 30min nap before the boys get home from school. Then its craziness again with homework, snack, dinner, baths. Finally its bedtime again even though I didn't get to run errands or do much of anything I'm tired! We'll see how tomorrow goes hopefully a little better:)

ADHD or something else?!?

When my oldest son was in kindergarten (he's in 3rd grade know) I wasn't very happy with his teacher. He never had worksheets or any kind of homework that he brought home. They never did much in class either the majority of the time was spent watching movies while his teacher planned her wedding and was on the computer. Any way at the end of the year I had a meeting at the school. They were a little concerned that he was a little behind in reading. So after a lot of conversations with the school they thought it would be best to put him in a class that was for kindergarten/first/second graders that works with each child more on what ever issues there behind in or having trouble with. After meeting with the teacher of that class I decided to go ahead and have him placed in it for that coming up school year. He ended up being in the for first and second grade. During first grade they had an IEP put in place for him. I was happy that he was getting extra help that he need to hopefully catch up. I really liked his teacher and she kept him working and busy at school and always had homework for him and me to work on everyday. That's the year I really started to get concerned. There would be nights we would be at the kitchen table from the time he got home at 3:30 till 7:30-8:00 sometimes even later then that. He would get really upset either frustrated, angry, breakdown and cry because of his homework. He felt overwhelmed/frustrated/tired like his brain was on overload. There were times I would loose my cool and yell (which never solved anything and just made the situation worse) and I would feel like a piece of s#@! Like the worst mom in the world....this is my son I'm supposed to always be there for him, protect him, stand up for him and there I was yelling at him getting aggravated for something he couldn't help. So at the end of first grade we went over his IEP again and decided to keep him in the same class he was still going on to second grade though. They ended up moving his teacher and the class to a different school so he ended up having to switch schools. At the time I was a little upset about that his brother was just starting kindergarten and know they wouldn't be at the same school and he would be leaving all his friends. That year they brought up to me that they thought he might have ADHD and suggest they and my self fill out questionnaires and I could take them to his doctor to discuss it. So that's what we did I was really annoyed with how the anointment went. He didn't even really look at the papers only asked me a couple questions and then said ever so casually we can start him on meds today if you want you'll probably have to go threw a few till you find the right one and dosage that works. He told me about the side effects that would probably happen. I of course didn't put him on any meds even though the school seems to be pushing it as well. He's in third grade know and back at his old school.  What they ended up doing this year is they put him a regular 3rd grade class as his homeroom and most of his day is spent in a class next door. That is a smaller class of about 13 kids and they get extra help and work st the level thete at. Again I've had conferences with the teachers/councilor's ext and they keep trying to get me to put him on meds. Before anyone gets offended and thinks I'm putting down those that do take medication which I'm not. I know for some it truly is does help them so much  but for my son he's not hyper, aggressive, mean, violent or anything like that. He just sometimes knows something one minute and then the next has trouble with it. Not that he forgot he can't get it out. The school set up to have a neurologist come to the school to work one on one with him and find out how he learns best. They feel that they have pretty much tried everything they could think of and yet he's still at a first grade reading level. I got to meet with neurologist and I can't even tell you how happy I am to maybe finally have some answers and be able to help him. What really broke my heart and almost made me break down and cry during our meeting was when he told me he's really shock that he's held on so long and not just completely give up. He's not convinced just yet that its adhd and he told me he doesn't think he should be put on meds. I have a ton of paper work to fill out before the meetings but I can't wait to hear his recommendations  and diagnosis in the next few weeks. I will definitely share with you what I find out.I know going threw this and just truing to get answers is exhausting/frustrating . Feel free to share your story if you like.

Baptisim prep

So this weekend was all about doing things to prep for my little ones baptism. We met his godparents at a local Mexican flea market. They have a lot of little shops there and we found his white suit....its so nice I can't wait to see him in it. We also got him a little white pair of shoes to go with it even though he's not walking/crawling yet and a really nice box set that has the candle for the ceremony, a little white towel to pat the baby's head dry, a small bible, rosary and a shell for the priest to poor the holy water on the babys head. After wards we all went out to a Mexican restaurant down the street from there (they have the best burritos/tacos and horchata (rice water). It was really nice to hangout and chat for awhile. We haven't seen them since before Christmas. Then today we had a 1hr baptism preparation class to go to. At some point either yesterday or today someone hit our minivan a made a huge dent in the rear bumper!  We didn't even notice it till we were leaving the church....I was so pissed. Any way there's still a lot to do in the next few weeks but I'll be sharing pics. Hope you enjoyed your weekend!cm

Healthy Honey Oatmeal Cookies

I wanted to share a "healthier"cookie recipe that me and little man made today while the boys were at school. I always check out the reviews for recipes before I make them (I'm just  weird like that) and this one had really good ones. So I figured I'd try it out. Just so you know it doesn't make very many cookies though. The recipe said it makes 30 but I only got maybe 18. I made some regular, chocolate chip and white chip ones. The real test was to see if the boys would eat it and actually like it. They had one as a after school snack well actually they each had 3. My oldest liked the chocolate chip ones the best and of course my other one like them all the same (he's got a sweet tooth like his mama and won't turn down a cookie). I think they could even be good for a breakfast cookie if your having a really crazy morning and need to eat in the car.

Healthy Honey Oatmeal Cookies

  • 3 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour (all purpose is fine to)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups of old fashioned oats
You could also add in chopped nuts, flax seed, chocolate chips, raisins, figs. Really anything you want. You could also use agava instead of honey if you like.

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. ( I like to use parchment paper but you could also spray the cookie sheet with cooking spray.

2. Mix together the butter, brown sugar, honey, egg and water.

3. Stir the dry ingredients together and mix with the wet ingredients. You can also add any other options if you choose so.

4. Drop by heaping tablespoon on to cookie sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes. Cool completely on wire rack.

Enjoy! If you give it a try let me know what you think.

Welcome to my blog!

I just wanted to give a little intro and let you know what my plans for this blog are. I'm a SAHM to my 3 boys (just in case the name didn't give that away). My oldest is 9yr, my middle one is 7yr and my little guy just turned 10 months old♥. Most days are crazy and chaotic but I wouldn't change it for anything! I plan on blogging at least a few times per week (maybe if I get my s#*@ together everyday....but I wouldn't hold my breathe for that one I'll try though). I plan on posting baby updates, about breastfeeding, recipes, crafts, health and beauty stuff, learning disabilities, crohns disease, reviews, daily motherhood issues and much more. I hope you enjoy my posts and decide to follow my journey!
