To Wear Or Not To Wear!?!..... Bathing Suit Dilemma

So I have a question for you all. Were going to be going to Wisconsin dells this weekend. I can't wait and the boys are SO excited! They keep asking how many more days till we go.

I'm having a little dilemma. I need to get a bathing suit/swimsuit (what ever you prefer to call it) and I'm having a hell of a time picking one. Do I go with a bikini and shorts over it or do I go with a 'mom' tankini?!?

In case you don't know I'm a 28 yr old mommy of 3 boys ages 12 month's, 7 yr and 9 yr. I'm just not sure which way I should go on this.

I've seen moms wearing bikinis and rocking it. On the other had I've also seen many moms wearing tankini's or 1 pieces and still looking cute not frumpy. Although there have been some that really remind me of something my grandma would wear but I won't go there.

Back to my question what do you wear? What do you think is appropriate? I realize everyone is different and has different comfort levels but I would like opinions. Also if you have a recommendation for a cute suit that would be great : )

I've been to a couple stores so far and tried both kinds on but haven't found one yet. I just wanna be comfortable and still look cute not like a hot mess O_o Oh the pain of shopping for a bathing suit. Why oh why must it be so difficult! Maybe it's just me and I have problems : )

Thanks guys for listening to my ever so important bathing suit dilemma : )

  1. I wouldn't wear either. Then again,I have a lot loose skin from weight loss. Whatever you feel comfortable wearing.

  4. Definitely go with what makes you comfortable! Bathing suit shopping is the worst because I can never find anything with proper coverage of the 'girls'. I have always worn bikinis but have seen a lot of super cute tankinis too. Good luck!

  5. When I was young I would wear a bikini, but after my second son (cesarean section emergency - up and down cut) and then after my gall bladder came out when I was 23, the scars on my tummy were awful! All puckery and pink and ick. So I started wearing tankini's or one piece suits. I actually liked a couple of my one pieces - depending on the cut, these can look really sexy. Not that I looked like Bo Derrik, but remember her running on the beach in a one piece! Almost every guy that watched that movie thought she was just the sexiest thing going! So, my final thought is - wear whatever makes you feel good!

    1. Thanks Vickie for the input : ) I have scars from my tumor/ovary/tube being removed and from part if my intestines and appendix. There not as bad as they used to be though. I put trader joes coconut oil on them and it's help.

  6. LOL! I will be having to make this same decision myself in the next couple of weeks...and I still have nightmares from shopping for a swimsuit while 6 months preggo!
While I have a bikini, you know the kind with the little skirt for a bottom, it is reserved for my own backyard only! LOL! Nobody wants to see this! But seriously, I am kind of modest out in public, so it will be a one piece, and I kind of like the old "Esther Williams" look. But again...just me being 40! Eek! But I also say if you got it, then work it...mom or not. :) Thanks for stopping by This Momma's Meandering Mondays! Have a great time!

  7. Hey there! I would have to say whatever makes you comfortable. I wear tankinis and boy shorts and coverups because that's what I'm comfortable in. In terms of what looks the best on you I guess I would have to see a picture of different ones to give you an opinion on that one lol! :) I hope you have fun shopping for a new bathing suit. Sounds like it could be a good time. Thanks for linking up with us at the Mommy Monday Blog Hop. I enjoyed reading your post. Have an extraordinary week! <3

  8. I'm going to give you my input on this. I USED to wear 2 piece bikinis BEFORE my kids. After my first son, I got stretch marks and all that mommy glory stuff :/ I now wear- tankini things that cover my midsection and bottoms that I found at target that look like bootyshorts. Not, swimming trunks all loose- but tight fitted bottoms that are like boy-shorts underwear. idk if I explained that right. LOL

  9. Wear whatever swimsuit you feel comfortable in :) I personally don't wear a 2 piece swimsuit after having kids, but there are so many options these days.

  10. I have never felt right in a one piece, but these days I'm sticking to fully clothed! If I had to go swimming right now...I think I'd choose...wet suit? Haha. Really I'd probably go for a bikini just because I hate how one pieces fit my lower half. What about one of those cute retro high waisted bikinis? They are so on trend right now.
